What can patients expect from you as a provider? Patients can expect an optimistic provider who is eager to help you. I believe most important part of my session with client is to elicit hope because hope drives an individual to do bigger and better things in their lives. I strive to engage with my clients by participating in their stories and journeys.

What do you specialize in?

  • Adult psychiatry and genotyping
  • Addiction medicine
  • Neuromodulation

What makes you different as a provider? I love to be innovative.  Many believe psychiatry is about meds and counseling but that is not true. Constantly, I am in tune with the latest technologies in an effort to discover new and effective ways to help my patients. When you couple that with my ability to connect with individuals on a honest level, it makes me a provider who is creative, compassionate, and relatable.

How long have you lived in Southern California and what brought you here? My family and I have made San Diego our home since moving from South Dakota over 12 years ago. It has been wonderful. The sunny weather, interesting people, and abundance of outdoor activities available is difficult to beat.  Most importantly, I cherish diversity of cultures, activities and ideas.

How would you describe your family? I have a wonderful family that includes my wife Shashita and our three boys who are becoming young adults. We participate in kids sports and other activities. We enjoy spending time with each other - taking road trips to national parks, board games, and hanging out on the beach are among the many things we do together.

What sort of interests of hobbies do you have? Hiking, sports, movies, and meeting new people.

Can you recommend five resources for your patients?

  • "Teaching A Stone To Talk" by Annie Dillard
  • "How To Slay The Worry Monster" by Martin E. Sodomsky
  • "Resilience" by Steven M. Southwick and Dennis S. Charney
