Dr. Veronica Deatrick DNP, PMHNP-BC

Dr. Veronica Deatrick is a board certified Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. She earned her Doctorate from Vanderbilt University and her Masters from the University of San Diego. She treats adults with psychiatric disorders in the outpatient setting as well as inpatient setting and is currently on staff at Palomar Hospital. Veronica is a California native and spends much of her free time outdoors and traveling.

What can patients expect from you as a provider? At our first visit we will go over your history, discuss your treatment goals and formulate a plan. During the following visits I will monitor your progress. Additionally, during each visit I will use a treatment model that combines positive lifestyle changes, brief psychotherapies and medication management.

What do you specialize in? I provide medication management for adults dealing with depression, ADHD, anxiety and sleep problems. I have a special interest in working with transitional age youth (18-24) and young adult.

What makes you different as a provider? I have a down to earth and humble demeanor that encourages open dialogue. I enjoy understanding your treatment goals and getting to know you as a person. If medication is needed, I do my best to make gradual changes and keep things as simple as possible.

How long have you lived in Southern California and what brought you here? I am a California native. I grew up in Southern California and continue to live here with members of my family who live a few hours away.

What sort of interest and hobbies do you have?

I love being out in nature and very much enjoy exploring new cultures. I combine these two by trekking in various locations. I’ve completed lengthy circuits in the Himalayas, Patagonia and others. My love of travel has taken me to 52 countries and counting.
